David A. Hughes, CFP®, CFA®, is a founding partner at Swenson Hughes Wealth Management, LLC. He has more than 15 years of financial industry and advising experience and has assisted his clients with comprehensive wealth management and managed investment portfolios.
David co-founded Swenson Hughes Wealth Management with Paul Swenson in 2023, to help minimize many of the inherent conflicts when serving clients through a major corporation. The firm was created to provide clients transparency of fee, limited and disclosed conflicts, and best-interest advice. Prior to Swenson Hughes Wealth Management, David served as Vice President/Senior Wealth Manager at Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management.
David’s lifelong professional goal is to provide ethical and cost-efficient financial advice and planning through a network of the best educated financial professionals. He believes that while vital, money is merely the tool that helps ensure you can spend time with your family and friends doing the things you love. Whether he’s supporting his children’s activities or sharing the couch and a good movie with his wife, he believes this is the treasure of life.
When he’s working for your family, David is envisioning your goals and how he can use all the tools in his chest to create a framework for you to enjoy life now and in the future in the way you see fit.
David earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Arizona State University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the CFA Society of Phoenix.
An analytical mind by nature, David takes pride in finding new ways to be proficient. Sometimes it’s solving a financial planning issue for a client or developing a course management gameplan before a golf tournament. Sometimes it’s building Lego sets with his family.
He loves live music, is an avid golfer, reluctant workout athlete and a lifetime lover of a good, hot cup of coffee any time of day.
